The Finished Building
The restored building, ready to resume Worship Services on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012. The original "dry stacked slate" foundation is clearly visible here. It consisted of pieces of slate laid on top of one another without any mortar, and then topped with a layer of dirt to level it for the floor beams. Modern codes and building practices would not allow us to do this, so a concrete foundation was poured inside the old slate, locking them in place and giving us a modern base for the rebuilding.
